‘Unapologetic,’ ‘Strong’ Female Leads Praised at ‘300: Rise of an Empire’ Premiere

Blood, brute and brotherhood are all portrayed in “300:Rise of an Empire,” but it’s leading ladies Lena Headey and Eva Green who take charge of the film. At the TCL Chinese Theatre premiere of the film March 4, helmer Noam Murro talked how the two command the screen.

“They’re unapologetic and they’re strong women, and there’s a historical truth that Artemisia was the head of the Persian navy, so why not, strong women—good,” he said.

Lena Headey reprised her role as Queen Gorgo from the original, “300.” She said she had older knees, so she had to do a bit more training the second time around.

“I have a moment with a sword, which I love,” said Headey. “But really it’s Eva and Sully’s movie and they’re both amazing. Her character is extremely badass and ruthless.”
